Charitable Giving
Love Multiplies!
We believe that one of the best things we do, in addition to our excellent service and creativity on your behalf, is to help your love begin to multiply from the moment you say “I do.” At the conclusion of your event, we donate a percentage of the cost of your event to a local charity, in honor of you and your event. You will receive a note from the charity, shortly after your event, notifying you of the donation in your honor. We do this because we believe love is not a “zero sum” game. The more love you give, the more love grows.
A 100% Commitment
Perhaps you’ve heard someone suggest that marriage is a 50/50 proposition. However, people who have been successfully married for many years know otherwise. It is 100/100. Each person has to give 100%, over the long haul, to keep the commitment alive. We like to say that we are, at Hidden River, “101 percent for love,” because we add to your love that something extra: our expertise and a portion of our profits. Just as your love grows and as our business grows, we aim to give more and more to charity and our local community. We donated $1000 in goods and services to local charities, ranging from Manna Food Bank to the Presbyterian Children’s Home, to Zacchaeus House Homeless ministries, to Animal Compassion Network!
During the 2008 and 2009 Wedding Season, we are donating all of our gifts (unless you request otherwise) to Calvary Presbyterian Church. Calvary is a 120 year African American congregation in downtown Asheville. Their building is in dire need of repair and we are teaming with them to support the renovation of their facility for the purposes of creating an Arts/Education Center. It’s a stately, Georgian Style building that sits high atop what was once called “Catholic Hill,” home to the first “Negro” Catholic church in the area. Calvary also began a “Negro” parochial school, at the turn of the century, affording young people an education for just pennies/week during the height of segregation in the South. The church has most recently housed 20 people in their fellowship hall for 17 years until their fellowship hall was condemned for code violations. They wish to continue their long history of hospitality and education, serving downtown Asheville and underprivileged youth, but they cannot do this well until their facility is renovated. Your wedding at Hidden River will help them to realize a great dream.
In addition to donating a portion of the cost of your event to a local charity, if you elect to donate an additional amount to a charity, we will give to your guests a print of a Hidden River river scene, created by local artist, Jude Stuecker. The print will have a calligraphy printed poem or other reading from your ceremony and on the back we will print that the gift has been given to a charity in honor of the guests and the couple, and we will tell your guests about how your love is multiplying in the Asheville region, from the day your marriage begins.
